Hi, my name is Diane and I started this blog because I wanted more out of life than just surviving the work week of an unfulfilling job and living for the weekend.
Growing up, I felt like if I wasn’t ahead, I was behind.
I was explicitly told that dreams are great, but they’re also unlikely.
So instead of going after what you really want, you should just make the most out of what will probably happen.
And I did. Moving onto the next thing with dread and achieved “what I’m supposed to,” knowing full well that I wasn’t going to be happy in the end.
Then I got stuck.
Couldn’t get a new job to save my life. First business flopped.
I felt like a loser.
So, I did what any sane person would do: I went to astrologers and psychics.
And what’s funny is everyone kept talking about how I had so much untapped creative energy that wasn’t being expressed.
It annoyed me because I had no time, money, or energy to be creative after work.
But what choice did I have?
So, I made time for little things here and there.
I baked chunky cookies for friends and family. I took sewing classes at the local sew shop. I read books on tarot, astrology, and palm reading.
While it’s annoying to see people’s lives change overnight and you have to do it the long and hard way, time passes for everyone regardless.
And “all of a sudden,” I had a home bakery, a sewing business, and spiritual practice.
When I realized what had happened, my life felt like it was moving in a direction I wanted to go in for the first time.
And I could get paid to do it! Something I didn’t think was possible for me.
Whether you believe in the esoteric as much as I do is not the point. You don’t have to book a tarot reading with me to give yourself permission to try things.
I started this blog simply to document myself doing just that.
If that’s something you’re interested in for yourself, then you’re in the right place!
My Magical Girl Adventures:
🍪 Baking
I started baking in college and, thanks to my Jupiter in Libra, I was always pretty good at it!
Since my family isn’t big on sweets, I spent a lot of time reworking and scaling down recipes from food bloggers and recipe developers to make smaller batches.
That eventually led me to create tools like the Cake Pan Converter Spreadsheet and the Recipe Library — resources I still use today for my home bakery, Cookie Cazimi.
I actually started selling chunky cookies on a whim after a simple suggestion from one of my jiu-jitsu instructors. Seriously, that’s it.
And just like that, I had a regular booth at the farmers market selling cottage food to my local community!
If you’ve ever wanted to start a home bakery, you can learn what did and didn’t work for me here.
✂️ Sewing
In 2022, I decided to learn how to sew — for no particular reason.
Sewing is both humbling and encouraging. You start thinking it’s impossibly complicated, but even experienced sewists will say: “No one really knows how it works, it just does.”
Because at the end of the day, sewing really is just cutting things out and putting them together.
I started out making tote bags and dog shirts before learning how to sew garments and draft patterns.
My default has always been to schlep around in athleisure, scrambling to find “real people” clothes when the occasion calls for it.
But, not anymore now that I’m only making clothes I genuinely want to wear.
And what started as a hobby making my own clothes eventually led me to start selling decorative pillows and making custom slipcovers for sofas.
Turns out, sewing can take you many different directions with the same skills!
Follow along as I build a home decor business while still finding time to sew my dream closet circa early 2000s Britney Spears.
Remember, even if you can’t dedicate yourself to a craft perfectly — it’s fine~
🔮 Tarot
Of course, the namesake Magical Girl Adventures comes from my love for the occult. And, it comes as a surprise to no one that a Scorpio is into witchy things.
Tarot is one of my favorite tools to get at the truth. Whether it be the truth of the matter or the truth you’re avoiding.
I actually studied astrology first and was able to find the motivation, audacity, and faith to launch my first business — it didn’t work out, but that experience led me toward the next one which did!
And, I know what you’re thinking, “Do you really believe this stuff?
I do.
But, I didn’t at first.
At first, I chose to believe it because I realized… you can just believe in anything. And it’s fun.
Then, I had a session with a psychic who is actually my coworker’s mom and realized — wow, this is real.
Of course, I asked for advice on becoming psychic, which of course she knew about, what it takes to do this professionally (beyond even just having the ability — we’re still people dealing with people), and my life in general.
By the way, my coworker is lovingly her #1 hater so I know he didn’t tell her anything about me to once again test her.
In my work, I hope to help you connect with what you truly want in life and give yourself permission to go after it!
